Tuesday 14 May 2002 Morning - Official Opening of the Seminar. Themes : - Social and economic justifications of rural transport (access needs, appropriate low cost technique, local private sector development, labour based methods, poverty reduction ). - Management of financing of rural transport infrastructure : use of HDM4 for decision making, Afternoon Themes : - Rural roads standards and structure design methods, sustainability, appropriate technology. - Management of financing of rural roads maintenance. Involvment of local Communities.
Wednesday 15 May 2002 Morning Themes : - Promotion of rural transport services and intermediate means of transport. - Strategy of rural transport in Madagascar. Afternoon Themes : - Topics for research in rural roads : standards, structure design, adaptation of HDM4, road safety, etc ... - Themes in the field of Intermediate Means of Transport : infrastructures, means of transport, financing and management. - Conclusions (follow up). End of the Seminar. Thursday 16 May and Friday 17 May 2002 C3 and C20 Technical Committees Meetings with CMGAIPCR. Friday 17 May 2002 at 11 oclock End of the Meetings. 6/ - CALL FOR PAPERS Experts proposals coming from different countries about the topics as planned in the programme of the Seminar must be sent to the CMGPIARC office no later than October 1, 2001. Texts of no more than 750 words written in French or in English must be returned with the reply form included in this document (page 5) by mail, fax or e-mail. If you send your presentation by e-mail, please observe the following rules :
CAUTION : If the above conditions are not followed, your e-mail submission will not be taken into consideration and you will not receive a reply.
The abstracts will be examined by the organizing committee. Those selected will be divided into oral and poster presentations. A poster session is a session in which authors make their presentations in poster form on a vertical stand and answer delegatesquestions. Authors who do not wish to be selected for an oral presentation must specify this in advance. The authors will be informed by letter before November 1, 2001, of the result of the selection and will thus know whether their proposal has been selected or not. Presentation implies that the author will be registered for and attend the Seminar. Your abstract will be published and distributed to all participants. Once your abstract will be accepted, you will be informed and must send the full text of your prestantion to CMGAIPCR before December 1, 2001. Please note that communication and presentation are not to be paid.
